A quiet introduction to a house where not everything is immediately seen…
Hinley Hanley House, where standards are maintained.
There are, in this world, things we see… and things we do not. Not because they are hidden. But because we have forgotten how to look.Hinley Hanley House is, at first glance, quite ordinary. A warm fire. Well-worn chairs. The gentle clink of teacups and the quiet turning of pages. A place of comfort. Of routine. Of familiar, human life. And of course…Dogs. Loyal. Quiet. Curious companions who sit patiently, follow faithfully, and sleep soundly at the foot of the bed.Or so it seems. For within the walls of Hinley Hanley House exists another world entirely. A world of distinguished dogs, clever, observant, impeccably dressed, who carry themselves with purpose and poise. They investigate. They deliberate. They attend gatherings of immense importance. They notice far more than anyone realises. They live as we do. Only… we do not see it. Not everyone, at least. Some possess what is known, though rarely spoken of, as The Hidden Sight, a rare and quiet gift.It does not shout. It does not announce itself. It arrives gently, in fleeting moments, an odd glance, a curious feeling, a sense that something has just occurred beyond the edges of understanding. Those who have it may not even know it. At first.

Welcome to the weekly diary!
Keeping you up todate with the latest goings on at Hinley Hanley House!
This Week at Hinley Hanley House…Sunday 21 June 2026...There was a curious ticking sound at Hinley Hanley House this week.At first, Stanley believed it was one of the old hallway clocks, which, as everyone knew, had a habit of telling the time according to mood rather than accuracy. But Lottie was not convinced. She sat very still beside the umbrella stand, ears pricked, listening carefully.“It is coming from Bertie’s satchel,” she declared.Bertie looked offended, then worried, then slightly proud.Inside the satchel were three feathers, one half-chewed biscuit, a length of blue ribbon, and a smooth grey pebble from the West Sussex beach. The pebble was ticking.Tilly barked at it immediately, just to be safe.Stanley, wearing his most serious investigative expression, placed the pebble on the rug. At that very moment, Granny entered with tea and paused.“Ah,” she said softly. “That is no ordinary pebble. That is a listening stone. The House must have something to say.”The ticking stopped. From somewhere deep within Hinley Hanley House came a gentle creak, then a whisper through the walls:“Look beneath the stairs.”Stanley adjusted his invisible dignity.“Right,” he said. “This is now officially a matter for the Head of House.”

This Week at Hinley Hanley House…Sunday 14th June 2026...There has been a most suspicious sort of quiet around Hinley Hanley House this week, which, as everyone knows, usually means Bertie is either hiding something, eating something, or has accidentally posted something important through a very small gap behind the skirting board. Stanley has taken it upon himself to investigate, dressed in his finest tweed and wearing an expression of great authority, though his progress has been slowed somewhat by the discovery of a half biscuit under the chaise longue.Meanwhile, Lottie remains convinced that the strange tapping from the old hallway mirror is not the wind at all, while Tilly has been barking at the pantry door as though it has personally offended her. Something curious is certainly afoot, and with muddy pawprints appearing where no muddy pawprints ought to be, the household suspects another doggy mystery is preparing to reveal itself…

This Week at Hinley Hanley House…Sunday 7th June 2026..There has been a great deal of whispering in the library this week.Stanley insists it is simply “the natural settling of old books,” though Bertie remains unconvinced and has spent three consecutive evenings growling heroically at a hat stand near the grandfather clock.Meanwhile, Lottie was discovered beneath the staircase shortly after midnight with three biscuits, a length of ribbon, and what she claims is “a very important clue.” No one is entirely certain what the clue relates to, though Tilly suspects it may have something to do with the strange scratching sounds heard in the west corridor during Tuesday’s thunderstorm.Granny, naturally, has said nothing at all.She merely stirred her tea, smiled to herself, and reminded everyone that “old houses remember things.”And somewhere beyond the gardens, just as dusk settled over the maze…Something moved.
